My Bra Shop Experience as a Pechugona

Jun 02, 2024
sub-buzz-4113-1562870565-1

Not in your size? Ugly when it fits ? Fed up of beige tones and black? Felt like a grandma? Why are bra shops so disappointing when your cup size is over a C-cup?

Buying bras as a busty girl is a challenging journey—where instead of dragons, you’re dealing with ill-fitting underwires and uncomfortable straps. And so many foams, why do they keep having foams?

After four years of living in Barcelona, I still struggle to find the right place to shop for a bra. I entered various lingerie stores like Intimissimi and Triumph, hopeful, only to discover that their “inclusive sizing” often misses the mark, offering designs that seem unfamiliar with D-cups, let alone H-cups. Despite their claims of expanding size ranges, it becomes clear that their offerings are not suited for me.

Feeling discouraged, I turned to specialized stores such as Curvaciones and Dama de Copas. The shopping experience there is far from pleasant. I found myself in small fitting rooms, struggling with bras that made me question if I was in the right place. The sales staff, armed with measuring tapes and good intentions, often made the experience even more stressful. The shops often have a vintage look, with floral wallpaper and frilly curtains, and a distinct lavender scent. Instead of feeling comfortable, I felt like I was exploring an outdated lingerie collection.

Finding a comfortable, supportive bra often feels like discovering a rare gem amidst a sea of beige monstrosities straight out of “Fifty Shades of Beige Lace” or medieval breastplates.

The injustice in style options is undeniable. While my smaller-chested friends flaunt colorful bralettes and cute patterned bras, my choices seem limited to functional designs reminiscent of industrial architecture—practical, but as exciting as plain toast. Moreover, the cost of a good-fitting, supportive bra can rival that of a small investment, forcing me to weigh my desire for a new dress against the necessity of a bra that truly fits. But to be honest, who are we kidding? It fits and you like it, you should buy it.

In summary, shopping for bras as a busty individual is less of a leisurely activity and more akin to navigating a treacherous journey filled with obstacles and occasional triumphs. And when success strikes, it’s definitely a cause for celebration—the discovery of a worthy successor to your old faithful bra
